John Mucai was born on September 7, 1957, in Nakuru, Kenya. Since his retirement in September 2017, John has pursued various hobbies and entrepreneurial interests, including writing books to entertain, educate and encourage people to think about the world differently and positively. He is the author of all books in the MUCAI Quick Read series.

John holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Nairobi. He is an alumnus of the United States International University, where he graduated with an MSc in Management and Organizational Development and a BSc cum laude in Information Systems & Technology. He has a Diploma in Cooperative Management from the Cooperative College of Kenya too.

John is a veteran of The Coca-Cola Company. He worked for different company entities for more than 30 years, holding many different roles of increasing responsibility in Finance, Business Systems, and Strategy/Business Planning. And in multiple locations, including Kenya, Ivory Coast, South Africa, the USA, Belgium, and the United Kingdom.

John married Susan Mumbi in 1984. They have two children, Allan and Anne.
